Ordre d'accès recommandé (RAO) pour cassette à bande magnétique LTO

The goal of this internship is to create a protoype of a Recommended Access Order (RAO) generator for LTO tape media used by CERN. Such a generator could reduce the access time required to read files on tape. Thanks to an LTO tape drive and some LTO cartridges lent by CERN, I was able to test and approve algorithms allowing the creation of a RAO generator prototype. It can divide required access time by up to two. To date, the prototype is being implemented in CTA, CERN's new tape archive software.
