Description

The new upgrades of the ALICE detectors will require cooling methods as it generates 15 kW of thermal heat. The future upgrade comprises of an air cooling system at low velocity along the axis of the beampipe through high thermal conductive carbon foam supports. Velocity of air and design specific parameters are altered to restrict airflow impedance along the beamline and an efficient cooling method altogether. Simulation results are published and a wind tunnel test rig setup will proof test our design targets.
