Description

During the Summer Student Programme at CERN, I worked on a project at the ISOLDE facility.
The project focused on evaluating the β-particle detection performance of β-particle detectors within the  DeVITO spectroscopy station at the VITO beamline. The commissioning run at DeVITO was performed in  July 2023, and it was followed by the first physics experiment in April 2024. These two online runs were  conducted with different setup geometries, resulting in different instrumental responses. To investigate the  β-particle detection performance for radiation emission asymmetry measurements, we carried out Monte  Carlo simulations. These simulations investigated the detectors’ response to electrons of varying energies,  including detection efficiency and energy deposition in the different setup components.
