UBS branches across the country are being modernised, and the CERN branch is no exception. The Bulletin brings you a preview of the project, which will get under way in January 2013.
The changes at the UBS branch in CERN's Main Building will be no simple facelift. The entire bank will be renovated, transforming the present relatively confined premises into an open and attractive area. "The renovation of the UBS branches is part of a wider campaign designed to further enhance our customer relations," explains Ezio Mangia, the head of the CERN branch.
The UBS bank currently occupies three sets of premises in CERN's Main Building (two on the ground floor and one in the basement). "By the end of the work, which is scheduled to be completed by the middle of next year, CERN customers will benefit from a new area with open-plan counters and "hole-in-the-wall" machines accessible to disabled users. Depending on the type of service they require, customers will be directed to new 'advice' areas in the basement or to the premises next to the post office for financial services," explains Ezio Mangia.
The project features new furniture, open spaces where confidentiality will nevertheless be maintained, an elegant and welcoming atmosphere, and new enclosed booths offering greater privacy. "The new premises of the UBS bank will blend very well with the style of the newly renovated Main Building," says Myriam Veyrat, the person in charge of the Main Building's renovation project.
UBS will continue to provide its customers will the full range of services while the work is in progress. "The cash machines and counters will be temporarily relocated but will remain in service. Some inconvenience will be unavoidable, however, especially in terms of noise," says Myriam Veyrat. For this reason, conferences and other events scheduled to take place in the Main Auditorium have had to be moved to other locations.

| Display windows The Staff Association is receiving an increasing number of requests from artists wishing to display their work on the ground floor of the Main Building. To help it to meet the demand, new display cabinets as well as a new display area (see photo) are in the offing. The project will create more attractive facilities for artists to display their work. Situated in front of the outdoor courtyard, on the main route to Restaurant No. 1, they will be ideally located to attract the attention of passers-by. A touch of colour and appropriate lighting will complete the display area, which will be inaugurated shortly. |

Dans le cadre d’un programme de rénovation des agences au niveau national, la banque UBS du CERN fait, elle aussi, peau neuve. Les travaux débuteront en janvier 2013. Le Bulletin vous dévoile le projet en avant-première.
Ce ne sera pas un simple lifting. Les travaux de rénovation de l’agence UBS du bâtiment principal concerneront l’ensemble de la banque et ils transformeront cet espace actuellement « confiné » en un espace ouvert et accueillant. « Le renouvellement des locaux s’inscrit dans le cadre d’une démarche plus profonde, que notre banque mène pour améliorer encore plus ses relations avec la clientèle », explique Ezio Mangia, responsable de l’agence UBS du CERN.
Actuellement, la banque UBS occupe trois zones dans le bâtiment principal - deux situées au rez-de-chaussée et une au sous-sol. « À la fin des travaux prévue pour le milieu de l’année prochaine, les Cernois seront accueillis dans un nouvel espace avec des guichets ouverts, ainsi que des bancomats muraux dont un sera accessible aux personnes à mobilité réduite. Selon le type de service dont ils auront besoin, ils seront aiguillés vers de nouvelles zones "conseil" au sous-sol ou, à côté de la Poste, pour les conseils financiers », décrit Ezio Mangia.
Un nouveau mobilier, des espaces aérées mais discrets, une ambiance épurée et accueillante, de nouveaux salons fermés pour davantage de discrétion, voici les atouts du projet. « Les nouveaux espaces de la banque UBS vont s’inscrire parfaitement dans le nouveau visage que le bâtiment a acquit grâce aux récents travaux de rénovation », confirme Myriam Veyrat en charge du projet de rénovation du bâtiment principal.
Pendant la période des travaux, UBS continuera à assurer ses services auprès de sa clientèle. « Les Bancomats et les guichets seront temporairement déplacés mais ils resteront en service. Toutefois, il y aura forcement des désagréments, surtout au niveau du bruit causé par les travaux », anticipe Myriam Veyrat. Pour cela, les réservations de l’Amphithéâtre principal ont dû être modifiées et réorientées vers d’autres salles.
Les travaux débuteront en janvier 2013 et devraient se terminer en juin. | La vitrine-expo L’Association du personnel reçoit un nombre croissant de demandes pour accueillir des expositions artistiques au rez-de-chaussée du bâtiment principal. Pour répondre correctement à cette demande, de nouvelles vitrines et un tout nouvel espace vitré (voir photo) seront bientôt installés. Les artistes pourront ainsi montrer leurs œuvres dans un espace plus avenant et situé sur le passage des visiteurs qui se rendent quotidiennement au bâtiment principal. Une petite touche de couleur et une illumination appropriée compléteront le petit espace « expo ». À découvrir incessamment sous peu en face du patio. |
