Description
The present analysis is focused on the search for direct pair production of the lightest top squark ($\tilde{t}_{1}$) in final states with two leptons of opposite electric charge, jets and missing transverse momentum, with m($\tilde{\text{t}}_{1}$) - m($\tilde{\chi}_1^{0}$) $\leq$ m(W) + m(b), discussed in the paper \cite{paper}. The effect of the selection cuts on the data at truth and reconstruction level are investigated by studying the distributions of some variables of interest. In the small $\Delta \text{m}$ region, the quality of the analysis might be strongly improved by reconstruction techniques targeting electrons and muons of low transverse momentum. However, also in this case, the distributons would be severely affected by the cut on the two leptons invariant mass, thus requiring further studies and a redefinition of the small $\Delta \text{m}$ analysis cuts.
