Description

In recent times, generative design tools have gained popularity as a solution to address design issues in various technical domains. This report focuses on mechanical design and describes various generative design solutions for addressing structural optimization issues. This study offers a clear explanation of how a particular software system, which uses generative design, creates multiple solutions for a structural design issue. It includes details on the workflow and performance of the system. The analyzed software is Autodesk's Generative Design, which is hosted in Fusion 360. This report focuses on the software's performance, specifically its ability to generate shapes that can be manufactured. To provide a practical and effective procedure, a case study of optimization of a top bellows support used in LHC cryomodules was selected to test the software.
