The 7th International Conference on Physics and Astrophysics of Quark-Gluon Plasma (ICPAQGP-2015), which took place in February at the Kolkata Saha Institute and Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre campus, provided an opportunity to celebrate the 70th birthday of Bikash Sinha, who with Sibaji Raha and the late Bhaskar Dutta had organized the first meeting in the series in 1988, at the Tata Institute in Bombay. That meeting marked the beginning of a new and exciting adventure in India. Over the years, the country began to participate in heavy-ion experiments at CERN's Super Proton Synchrotron and later at the LHC, as well as atBrookhaven'sRelativistic Heavy-Ion Collider. At the recent meeting, CERN's director-general, Rolf Heuer, gave a public talk and also joined the celebratory dinner at the Bengal Club of Kolkata. (Image Credit: Bengal Club.)
