Description

This thesis presents a standalone measurement of the Higgs boson production cross-section in the Vector Boson Fusion Vector Boson Fusion (VBF) production mode performed in the $H$ $\rightarrow$ $ZZ$ $\rightarrow$ 4$l$($l$ = $e$, $\mu$) channel. The study is done using datasets corresponding to proton-proton collision data produced at the LHC at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV and collected by the CMS detector, equivalent to an integrated luminosity of 137 $fb$$^{-1}$. The artificial neural network technique is used in order to perform the multivariate analysis for two orthogonal jet-based categories defined in this analysis. Statistical shape analysis developed for the two jet-based categories is done by combining the discriminant distribution from each category. The Higgs VBF signal strength modifier and the significance of the present analysis have been estimated. The present analysis has enough significance for the VBF Higgs production evidence. A projection for future luminosities is also presented, and accordingly, it is expected to have enough significance for the VBF Higgs production observation (5$\sigma$) with an integrated luminosity of 350 $fb$$^{-1}$.
