SELF-RESCUE MASK
The "Self-Rescue Mask" face-to-face training course has been replaced by a revised version. This measure concerns both the initial and the refresher course.
For personnel who have successfully attended the initial or refresher Self-Rescue Mask training within the last three years, their Self-Rescue Mask training will still be valid.
The course description and registration form can be found in the training catalogue on the Safety Training Service’s website or catalogue.
The Self-Rescue Mask training course is a mandatory prerequisite for following the new "Portable ODH Detector" e-learning course.
PORTABLE ODH DETECTOR
A new e-learning awareness course, "Portable ODH Detector", is available via the SIR application on CERN’s intranet.
Personnel requiring a portable ODH detector of the DRÄGER x-am 5000 type to allowed access the LHC accelerator must follow this new e-learning awareness course. However, a valid Self-Rescue Mask course is a mandatory prerequisite.
The instructions given in the course go beyond those of the manufacturer’s user manual by taking into account the specific:
- CERN configuration of the portable ODH detector,
- conditions of the LHC tunnel, and
- CERN internal contacts regarding this device.
The e-learning course lasts for approximately 10 minutes.

MASQUE AUTOSAUVETEUR
La formation classique« Masque Auto-sauveteur » a été remplacée par une version révisée. Cette mesure concerne à la fois le cours initial et le recyclage.
Les personnes qui ont participé avec succès à la formation initiale ou au recyclage au cours des 3 dernières années sont considérées comme ayant une formation valide.
Le programme de la formation et le formulaire d'inscription sont disponibles dans le catalogue de formation ou sur le site web du service Formation sécurité.
La formation « Masque auto-sauveteur » est un prérequis obligatoire pour le suivi de la nouvelle formation en ligne « Détecteur portable de manque d’oxygène ».
DÉTECTEUR PORTABLE DE MANQUE D’OXYGÈNE
Une nouvelle formation en ligne « Détecteur portable de manque d’oxygène » est disponible via l’application SIR sur l’intranet du CERN.
Les personnes devant porter un détecteur portable de manque d’oxygène de type DRÄGER x-am 5000 pour accéder au LHC doivent suivre cette nouvelle formation en ligne. Toutefois, une formation « Masque auto-sauveteur » valide est un prérequis obligatoire.
Les instructions données dans cette formation vont au-delà du mode d'emploi du fabricant, en tenant compte de spécificités :
- Configuration CERN du détecteur portable,
- Conditions du tunnel LHC,
- Contacts internes au CERN concernant cet appareil.
Le cours en ligne dure environ 10 minutes.
