Slow Resonant Extraction at the LHC

Description
This Summer Student project presents the study on the possibility to perform slow extraction from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) for future Fixed Target (FT) experiments. Slow extraction is a technique used to deliver a continuous ux of particles at a desired location. To do so, a technique which is called third integer resonance is used to drive particles into instability and extract them using appropriate methods. The main challenge of this project is to design a resonant slow extraction system from a super conductive machine, like the LHC, which has a tight aperture delimited by its collimation system. Slow extraction at TeV-scale is a novel topic and this summer student project aim at open the path to this possibility.
