CERNland, the CERN site designed for kids, has launched a new game environment dedicated to the Universe. If you are between 7 and 99 and like challenges, embark on a journey through the history of the Universe and become addicted to (healthy) gaming!
Welcome on board the CERNland spaceship!
Fifteen games, a newsroom and a brand-new game environment on the evolution of the Universe: since its official launch in 2009 to mark the 20-year anniversary of the invention of the Web, CERNland hasn't stopped growing.
In CERNland, games can be accessed by clicking on points corresponding to the experiment locations or on specific buildings on the CERN site. Everything in CERNland is animated and interactive, even the educational (“learn”) parts where the player can find more in-depth explanations. A zoom-in animated sequence brings you to the CERN site, while a zoom-out on board a spaceship takes you to the frontiers of the Universe.
Each single character in CERNland is specially designed and drawn for the site, and the programming behind the animations accurately reproduces the specific physics processes that the game is about. But don’t think about all this. CERNland must be enjoyed without too much physics thinking. Allow yourself to feel like a young child again and start playing. A cute spaceship is now there to welcome you on board. Don’t forget to check the journey logbook from time to time and try to get to the Big Bang faster than the others!
| CERNland kudos Available in six languages, CERNland receives a few hundred visitors every day, of whom more than 80% on average percentage are new visitors. In 2010 the site was awarded the physics.org web prize. Over the years and with the regular addition of new games, it keeps collecting fans from all over the world. Depuis son lancement officiel en 2009, à l’occasion du vingtième anniversaire de la création du Web, CERNland n’a cessé de se développer. Ce site web propose aujourd’hui quinze jeux, un espace consacré aux actualités du CERN, et un tout nouvel environnement ludique ayant pour thème l’évolution de l’Univers.
Pour accéder aux différents jeux de CERNland, il suffit de cliquer sur les lieux des expériences ou sur les bâtiments du CERN. Tout dans CERNland est animé et interactif, y compris le contenu pédagogique où le joueur peut trouver des explications plus précises. C’est à vous de choisir : zoomez sur le domaine du CERN ou montez à bord d’une fusée qui vous emmènera aux frontières de l'Univers.
Chaque personnage de CERNland a été spécialement conçu pour le site web, et la programmation des animations recrée avec précision les processus physiques abordés dans les jeux. Mais laissons de côté les détails techniques. Avec CERNland, pas besoin de connaissances pointues en physique pour passer un bon moment. Retombez en enfance et prenez les commandes : le vaisseau temporel n’attend plus que vous pour décoller. N’oubliez pas de vérifier le carnet de bord de temps à autre, et remontez le temps jusqu’au Big Bang avant les autres joueurs !
| Bravo CERNland ! CERNland, disponible en six langues, attire quelques centaines de visiteurs par jour, dont 80 % de nouveaux visiteurs en moyenne. En 2010, CERNland a été récompensé par le site Physics.org. Au fil des années, et grâce à l’ajout régulier de nouveaux jeux, le nombre de fans de CERNland n’a cessé d’augmenter partout dans le monde. Sur le web, CERNland suscite de nombreuses réactions enthousiastes : « Vraiment mignon. Je n'aurais certainement jamais pensé décrire les plus gigantesques projets de physique de cette manière-là. Pourtant, je viens de passer une heure à explorer CERNland et à jouer... Je suis totalement fan ! Jusque-là, les tentatives de vulgarisation de la physique des particules auprès des enfants, pourtant pleines de bonnes intentions, me semblaient souvent ratées. Mais CERNland est une réussite ».
