Improving the extraction of the Z boson rate for luminosity measurements at the CMS experiment

A new method to improve the extraction of the Z boson rate for luminosity measurements was implemented using more state of the art programming libraries and fitting tools. The new method obtains fits on data by parameterizing muon scale and resolution corrections. This allows the evaluation of acceptance correction from data and an improved constraint on the corresponding uncertainty from acceptance effects.
