Description

Of all detectable Standard Model particles produced through proton-proton collisions at the LHC, muons are the only ones reaching the outermost layers of the ATLAS detector. They are a potent and clean tool to examine known and unknown physics processes as well as to monitor detector effects and performance. Measuring the efficiency of muon reconstruction algorithms is one essential tool to conduct searches for the Higgs boson and particles beyond the Standard Model. To determine those efficiencies, an implementation of the ``Tag & Probe'' method has been developed. This method was tested, using the data recorded by the ATLAS detector at a center of mass energy of unit{7}{ eraelectronvolt} in the year 2010. The efficiencies were measured on a sub-sample of jet associated $mu^+mu^-$ final states.
