Measurement of the binding energy of the (anti-)hypertriton and improving signal extraction based on tracklet matching

Description
The hypertriton is a hyper-nucleus, which can be produced in high energy collisions. Since the hypertriton consists of a lambda bound to a proton and neutron, the exact measurement of its mass, lifetime and yield are of high interest, as they offer an insight into the interaction between strange and normal matter. In this summer-student project the hypertriton was closely studied, with the goal to reduce the uncertainties on the separation energy of the lambda. For this endeavour, the viability of tracklet matching with tracklets from the inner tracking system (ITS) of a large ion collider experiment (ALICE) was studied.
