Description

When we collide protons at the LHC, the partons collide and fly out with massiveenergies. QCD dictates that partons cannot exist alone, and therefore they hadronizeinstantaneously and lead to a spray of particles, called a jet. Jets are ubiquitous atCMS, and we need to understand them properly to be able to understand the collisions.In this thesis we explore various state of the art algorithms which look at a jet andtry to predict which parton it came from. The parent parton's flavor is called the "jetflavor". We implement these algorithms on various samples, compare their results andperformance and obtain some benchmark results for future analysis.
