Summer Student Report: Antiproton Extraction for Transportable Trap
Authors/Creators
Description
The Antimatter Factory at CERN is currently the only location in the world where low-energy antiprotons can be experimented with. For this reason, a few collaborations at CERN have devoted some efforts to developing a trap that can transport antiprotons and distribute them to other experiments. This summer student project, conducted alongside the AEgIS experiment, involved the preparation of an extraction line for antiprotons that will be used for a prototype of an antiproton transportable trap. During the work, an MCP imaging detector and a camera were installed at the extraction site for image acquisition. Consequently, a series of preliminary tests were performed to confirm the beam stirring by using the detector.
