Test Beam Analysis and Commissioning of a New Beam Telescope for DRD1

This work reports on the commissioning of a new beam telescope based on thermally bonded Micromegas detectors within the DRD1 collaboration. Compared to conventional bulk Micromegas, the thermal bonding technique enables simpler fabrication and improved accessibility. The system expands the SPS test beam infrastructure with a new telescope and VMM3a/SRS readout electronics. Laboratory studies characterized the detectors and electronics through gain and drift scans. These measurements also revealed limitations in the y-coordinate response due to the strip geometry, where $\mathcal{O}(\SI{100}{\um})$ deep embedded y-strips reduce the induced signal.

The telescope was subsequently deployed at the SPS beam line, where stable operation was achieved after addressing challenges such as discharges by cleaning and flushing procedures. Beam profiles and gain scans were obtained, and tracking analysis with Corryvreckan calculated spatial resolution and detector efficiency. Preliminary results indicate a spatial resolution of about \SI{57}{\um} in the x-coordinate, while the y-coordinate has a resolution of approximately $\SI{86}{\um}$ and a peak detector efficiency of approximately 67%.
