Description

Since the prediction of the Higgs boson, its search is a central goal in particle physics. A promising decay channel of the search for neutral Higgs bosons predicted by minimal supersymmetric extension to the Standard Model is $h / H / A \rightarrow \tau^{+} \tau^{-} \rightarrow e \mu+4 \nu$. In the fully leptonic final state there are four neutrinos, which can not be measured by the ATLAS detector. Therefore a reconstruction of decay kinematics is necessary in order to be able to determine the mass of the Higgs boson. In this thesis the visible mass, the effective mass, the late-projected invariant mass, the early-projected invariant mass, the collinear approximation and the Missing Mass Calculator are presented and compared. It became apparent that no mass reconstruction can be referred to as the best. There are large differences, depending on the mass of the Higgs boson, in terms of the mass spectra, of dependencies on event variables and in separation of background processes. The Missing Mass Calculator turns out to be not well suited for this decay channel. For Higgs boson masses in the range $90 GeV<m<110 GeV$, the early-projected mass and the effective mass can be used. For $110 GeV<m<130 GeV$ the late-projected mass and the Missing Mass Calculator are suitable. And for $130 GeV<m<150 GeV$ the visible mass is very appropriate.
