Quark and gluon jet tagging in Heavy Ion backgrounds
Contributors
Supervisor:
Description
The report describes a exploratory study using Monte Carlo event generators of the possibilities of tagging quark and gluon jets in Heavy Ion backgrounds. The performance of an original set of jet observables to achieve the tagging is studied using multivariate techniques, both in vacuum and with quenching. Then the performance is analysed in Heavy Ion backgrounds, applying recently developed tools to correct the effect of pileup in the jet observables.
