Fenomeni di channeling e volume reflection per protoni a 400 GeV/c in cristalli multipli
Description
The H8-RD22 experiment is an international experiment supported mainly by INFN and CERN with the goal of high precision measurement of the channeling and volume reflection effects occurring to charged particles incident on bent crystals. The use of multi-crystal systems to obtain efficient and relatively large deflections was explored by the collaboration as a possible tecnhique for the collimation and reduction of the beam halo in the high luminosity LHC (Large Hadron Collider) phase. The data collected for the Multi Quasi-Mosaic 7 (MQM7) crystal have been analized. This was the first multi crystal using a remote piezoelectric system to align the various crystal of the device. For this crystal the channeling and volume reflection properties have been measured. The design and on the realization of the experimental setup for the measurement of the channeling and volume reflection effects with a lead (Pb) beam is presented. The silicon detectors with high power lasers to simulate the high charge deposit due to lead (Pb) beam in the silicon have been tested.
