Schnittoptimierung der Suche nach neutralen MSSM Higgs-Bosonen im Zweimyonenkanal am ATLAS-Detektor bei einer Schwerpunktsenergie von √s=7TeV
Description
One of the main tasks of the ATLAS detector at the LHC accelerator ring in the vicinity of Geneva is the search for the cause of the gauge symmetry breaking of the electroweak force. The minimal super symmetric extension of the standard model of particles (MSSM) explains this symmetry breaking by the existence of Higgs fields, which manifests itself among other by three electrically neutral Higgs bosons. The present thesis deals with the search for these particles in the dimuon channel. This channel has compared to the decay into b-quarks or Tau-leptons a very small branching ratio, but it leaves a very clear signal in the detector and allows therefore, if the searched Higgs bosons exist, a precise measurement of their properties. The aim of this thesis is to optimize the cut selection by which the signal should be separated from the background. Therefore, the predictions of three Monte Carlo generators are compared with the ATLAS data for agreement. Based on the best available simulation of the background, the cut selection is optimized with regard to the determination of limits on the Higgs bosons cross section.
