A search for prompt lepton jets in the ATLAS detector
Description
A search is performed for pairs of energetic lepton jets, which themselves are a collimated electron-positron(e^-e^+) or muon-antimuon(\mu^-\mu^+) pair. The analysis is performed on the 20:3 fb^{-1} data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) operating at a center-of-mass energy collision of 8 TeV. A proposed source of lepton jets is the decay of a Standard Model or a dark sector Higgs boson, producing dark sector gauge bosons (dark photons). Should dark photons mix kinetically with a virtual electromagnetic photons, could be detected through the virtual photon coupling to a boosted lepton-antilepton pair. Another possible source is found in supersymmetry(SUSY)-mediated models with decays to the dark sector that lead to lepton jets.
