Catherine, you arrived at CERN in May 2000 as a mechanical draughtswoman in the TS department’s mechanical studies office.
In keeping with your nature, your arrival was very discrete, but you soon became well known and appreciated by all thanks to the skill, professionalism and perfectionism that you brought to the projects on which you worked.
Following on from your involvement and success in studies for the LHC’s collimators and electrical feed boxes, the Hiradmat test area and the complete renovation of the PS complex access control system, you joined the High-Luminosity LHC project in February 2014.
We must also mention your interests outside of work, including motorbikes, botany and fish-keeping, which you pursued with the same passion and thirst for knowledge that you brought to your work. The messages and tributes received since your death have only served to reinforce our memory of you as a beautiful and charming person – a memory that will stay with us forever. Rest in peace.

We deeply regret to announce the death of Catherine Magnier on 31 May 2016. Catherine Magnier, who was born on 4 November 1968, worked in the EN department and had been at CERN since 24 May 2000.
The Director-General has sent a message of condolence to her family on behalf of the CERN personnel.

Catherine, tu es arrivée en mai 2000 en tant que projeteuse mécanique au sein du bureau d’études mécanique du département TS.
Comme à ton habitude, tu es arrivée en toute discrétion. Mais, très vite, les compétences, le professionnalisme ainsi que le perfectionnisme dont tu as fait preuve pour les projets auxquels tu as participé t’ont permis d’être connue et appréciée de tous.
Ton implication et les résultats que tu as obtenus dans les études pour les collimateurs LHC, les DFB LHC, la zone de test Hiradmat ou la réfection complète des contrôles d’accès du complexe PS, t’ont permis de rejoindre en février 2014 le projet LHC à haute luminosité.
Comment ne pas parler de tes autres activités extra-professionnelles telles que la moto, les plantes ou l’aquariophilie dans lesquelles tu mettais la même passion et la même soif de connaissances. Tous les commentaires reçus et tous les hommages qui t’ont été rendus depuis ta disparition n’ont fait que renforcer l’image de toi que nous garderons à jamais en nous, d’une belle et attachante personne. Repose en paix.

Nous avons le profond regret d’annoncer le décès de Madame Catherine Magnier survenu le 31 mai 2016. Catherine Magnier, née le 4 novembre 1968, travaillait au département EN et était au CERN depuis le 24 mai 2000.
La Directrice générale a envoyé un message de condoléances à sa famille de la part du personnel du CERN.
