Description
This note describes the elements of the FCC-ee interaction region, namely the beam pipes, the bellows, as well as the vertex detectors of the three current "detector concepts", as well as their mechanical integration. The mechanical description of the FCC-ee interaction region layout is discussed in Section 2, followed by the description of the vertex detectors in Section 3 and their mechanical integration in Section 4.
Starting from the above descriptions, Section 5 describes the implemented simulation details, and allows to estimate the backgrounds in the detectors, which have implications on the design and requirements on the electronics and detector technology, as well as the main parameters of the performance, such as the material budget, the impact parameter resolutions etc.
The positioning of the bellows, together with the study of the integration of the Beam Position Monitors (BPM), will affect also the integration of the Luminosity Calorimeter, and, although quite substantial work has been done, at the time of writing we are not able yet to present its final design.
