Sensitivity study of the search for the rare decay $D^0 \to \pi^+\pi^- \nu \bar{\nu}$ at FCC-ee

Description

This note presents a sensitivity study for the rare charm decay $D^0 \to \pi^+\pi^- \nu \bar{\nu}$ at the Future Circular Collider (FCC-ee) operated a the $Z$ pole with $6 \times 10^{12}$ produced $Z$ bosons. Preliminary results indicate that an observation with a significance $5(3)~\sigma$ at the level of $1.6 \times 10^{−6} (9.7 \times 10^{−7})$ could be possible, which is within the parameter space allowed in BSM models. The presented results are very preliminary and will be developed further.
