Studie zur Sensitivität des CMS Experimentes auf schwere, geladene Vektorbosonen mit Elektronen im Endzustand
Description
This thesis is a monte-carlo study of the discovery and exclusion potential of a hypo-
thetical, charged and heavy vector boson W′ with the CMS detector. The investigated
backgrounds are W → e + ν, W → τ + ν, W+W, t + t, QCD and Z → e + e at a center
of mass energy of √ 7 TeV. A set of selection criteria is applied to seperate signal from
background events. It contains the HEEP-selection and dedicated kinematic criteria. The
sensitivity ist determined with the CLs-method. In addition, the impact of systematic
uncertainties on the sensitivity is investigated.
