Design and Optimization of a Broadband Electromagnetic Kicker for the Stochastic Cooling System of the Antiproton Decelerator at CERN

Description
The response of the pickups and kickers of the stochastic cooling system of CERN's Antiproton Decelerator is investigated by means of analytical computations and numerical simulations. A novel class of stochastic cooling pickups and kickers, based on striplines coupled with pulse inverters is presented. The frequency domain behavior of this class of devices is analyzed analytically and by means of numerical simulations. Designs of kicker arrays of devices of this class are compared to the currently used designs and to a slotline array kicker design.
