The LHC computing grid project at CERN

A review on the LHC computing grid (LCG) project at CERN was presented. The structure and the current status of the project were summarized, together with their future. The computing needs of the 4 LHC experiments were impressive in the overall data rates, in accumulated data sizes and in the computing power needed to perform the different analysis. The LCG does not intend to create a distributed system for technology demonstration but deliver the data analysis solution for the LHC experiments. (Edited abstract)
