The CMS-HF Online Radiation Damage Monitoring System measurement results for 2022 and 2023
Description
The HF calorimeter of the CMS detector is designed to detect the most energetic particles generated by the proton-proton collisions at CERN. Particle showers produce Cherenkov Light in the quartz fibers. The signals are produced in the PMTs by the Cherenkov Light passing through the quartz fibers in the HF calorimeter. The transparency of the quartz fibers decreases due to the radiation damage. With regards to the accuracy of the energy calibration, it is important to monitor the radiation damage of these quartz fibers. To do this, a radiation damage monitoring system was implemented. In this thesis, the analysis and results of the 2022 and 2023 data from the HF Radiation Damage Monitoring System are presented. 2022 data are the first data after Long Shutdown II. The ROOT is used as the data analysis framework. Results are presented with respect to time and also with respect to the integrated luminosity
