Event Building Performance Assessment through OpenMPI Network Benchmarking
Contributors
Supervisor (2):
Description
The Event Building (EB) system is a crucial component of the LHCb experiment at CERN, used to assemble data fragments from experiment runs into events. High-speed interconnects such as InfiniBand are vital for its optimal performance. A standalone OpenMPI-based benchmark was developed with the primary goal of creating a flexible benchmarking program, capable of adjusting to various configuration and run parameters. Subsequent tests were conducted on real servers. The benchmark can aid in network diagnostics, as well as enhancing its efficiency and reliability.
