ATLAS Forward Proton Time-of-Flight subdetector: detector testbed studies

Description

The ATLAS Forward Proton Detector (AFP) is a detector for forward physics, detecting and reconstructing kinematics of forward going protons. It is positioned about 200 m from the ATLAS interaction point on either side. The detector consists of two types of subdetectors: The silicon tracker and the Time-of-Flight detector. The main target of this summer student project is to understand the operation of the AFP Time- of-Flight subdetector as well as to study its response and behavior in the CERN based ATLAS Roman Pots laboratory.
