Description

This thesis presents a multitude of measurements of the charge asymmetry in top quark pair production. The analyzed data have been collected by the CMS detector in the proton-proton collisions of the CERN LHC at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. All presented measurements rely on a carefully optimized regularized unfolding procedure, which is used to measure the charge asymmetry both inclusively as well as differentially as a function of the invariant mass, the transverse momentum, or the rapidity of the top quark pair system. Additional results with a reduced model dependence are calculated by extrapolating to a fiducial phase space instead of to the full phase space of top quark pair production.
