Description

Aperture models are of fundamental importance to design machine optics configurations and predict machine performance. They are also essential to detect design flaws during the engineering and construction phase, and essential to steer alignment campaigns and optimize operational scenarios. The project consists in developing automatic tools to create beam aperture models from the CERN layout database and survey measurements in MAD-X format. Combined with beam optics models, this allows performing consistency checks and improve data quality, as well as obtaining detailed aperture analysis for the LHC that will serve as a basis to optimize the machine operational scenarios and performance.
